Afternoon

It's a reasonably well known fact that, on average, Czechs drink more beer than any other nation. What's less widely known is that most Czechs are shandy drinkers and leave it to a few well placed booze sponges to keep their average up. The other day they managed to catch one;

Czech truck driver found with 8 grams of alcohol in bloodstream PRAGUE (AFP) - A Czech truck driver who drove into a ditch was found to have eight grams of alcohol in his bloodstream, just a month after he was stopped for drunk driving, authorities said. "It is the same man we stopped on April 20 with 4.19 grams" per liter of blood, said Miroslav Klus, deputy chief of police in the northern town of Lomnice nad Popelkou. "We're wondering if he wanted to beat his own record," Klus added. To reach such an alcohol level, a person has to drink 30 to 40 glasses of wine or 15 to 20 pints of beer one after the other. It is illegal to drive in the Czech Republic having drunk any alcohol. The driver, who had still to be sanctioned for his April offence, was only returned his permit two months ago after it was withdrawn for causing an accident while drunk.
This guy sounds like a fucking star, he might even be able to take Smudge and Dave on in an afternoon drinkathon. He should probably find a more sedentary profession than truck driving, though.
