Movies and adverts

Dave beat me to the punch with the trailers for Slither and Ultraviolet. Both of which I want to see. I agree with Dave that Ultraviolet could go either way (bit like Aeon Flux; anyone seen that yet?) and will possibly have all the chavs screaming "it's just a copy of the Matrix" which would be a damning inditement of originality in our times but, so long as they don't go for too much plot, I'm in; Milla Jovovich in even less clothing ... and it's all latex. Sold. Slither, on the other hand, promises real delight of the kind that vary few movies have been able to deliver (Tremors springs to mind as a singular example of a delivery of a full load of exactly this kind of goodness.) Still looking out for Sky High, any movie with Kurt Russel and Bruce Campbel (and I'm pretty sure this is the only one) has got to be worth a 6 pack and a bag of crisps. Bubble and I went to the HMV NY sales and picked up Bubba Ho-Tep, Zoolander, Napoleon Dynamite and The Wicker man. I've seen all of these except the Wicker man before and they're a joy to relive. I haven't yet sat down to see Bubba Ho-Tep with Bruce doing commentary in character as the king. It's a bit geeky for Bubble, but I'll get to it later in the week. Wicker man appealed to me on several levels.

  • it was cheap
  • it has Christopher Lee in it
  • he has really bad hair
  • it also has Edward Woodward in it
  • I'm not sure about his hair, but probably also bad
  • it is set on a remote Scottish island and is about Religious cultists
  • therefore it will probably be fucking terrifying
  • it involves at least one bonefire (missing V for Vendetta...)
I'll let you know once I've seen it

I got an email today letting me know of a new episode in a series that I had forgotten. It's the series of Virgin train ads called "littler Britain". I didn't post it before, coz there was only one up, but there's three now so go have a look. Quite good, in a strictly purile sense, which is the only sense that makes sense anyway. Dave, you will recognise the third one, that's Bracknell on a saturday night at closing time, that is.
